MISSIONARY BOOK AND COLPORTEUR MINISTRY REPORT

The needs of this ministry:

COLPORTEUR BOOKS I am sorry to have to tell you, but we are low on colporteur printing funds and are unable, at this time, to publish additional colporteur books. Eventually, we will be able to print more of them. In the meantime, we are continuing to prepare them. We look to God for guidance in this matter; and we appeal to those who want to help forward the canvassing work, to help provide funds for this purpose. vf

Funds are also required to continue to reprint and provide our Missionary Paperbacks which we offer at cost in case-lots to assist individual missionary effort throughout the world. pgt

TO PREPARE A PEOPLE TO MEET GOD"The publications sent forth from our printing houses are to prepare a people to meet God. Throughout the world they are to do the same work that was done by John the Baptist for the Jewish nation. By startling messages of warning, Gods prophet awakened men from worldly dreaming. Through him God called backsliding Israel to repentance.

"By his presentation of truth he exposed popular delusions. In contrast with the false theories of his time, truth in his teaching stood forth as an eternal certainty. Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, was Johns message. Matthew 3:2. This same message, through the publications from our printing houses, is to be given to the world today."7 Testimonies, 139.

THE WORK OF THE OTHER ANGEL"And in a large degree through our publishing houses is to be accomplished the work of that other angel who comes down from heaven with great power and who lightens the earth with his glory."7 Testimonies, 140 (1902).

MISSIONARY WORK OF THE HIGHEST ORDER"The canvassing work, properly conducted, is missionary work of the highest order, and it is as good and successful a method as can be employed for placing before the people the important truths for this time. The importance of the work of the ministry is unmistakable; but many who are hungry for the bread of life have not the privilege of hearing the word from Gods delegated preachers. For this reason it is essential that our publications be widely circulated. Thus the message will go where the living preacher cannot go, and the attention of many will be called to the important events connected with the closing scenes of this worlds history."6 Testimonies, 313 (1900).

THEY WILL BE REWARDED"Let canvassers go forth with the word of the Lord, remembering that those who obey the commandments and teach others to obey them will be rewarded by seeing souls converted, and one soul truly converted will bring others to Christ. Thus the work will advance into new territory.

"The time has come when a large work should be done by the canvassers. The world is asleep, and as watchmen they are to ring the warning bell to awake the sleepers to their danger. The churches know not the time of their visitation. Often they can best learn the truth through the efforts of the canvasser. Those who go forth in the name of the Lord are His messengers to give to the multitudes who are in darkness and error the glad tidings of salvation through Christ in obeying the law of God."6 Testimonies, 315.

AS LONG AS PROBATION LASTS"As long as probation continues, there will be opportunity for the canvasser to work. When the religious denominations unite with the papacy to oppress Gods people, places where there is religious freedom will be opened by evangelistic canvassing."6 Testimonies, 478 (1900).

The internet is one of the special ways we can reach millions with the messages for these last days. We can be thankful that we can make use of this valuable resource. Large numbers of people from all over the world are regularly viewing and making use of these materials, both to benefit themselves and in ministering to others!

PRISON MINISTRY REPORT

Here is the tabulation for October 2006, by our Prison Ministry: Requests came from prisons and jails in 32 states. There were 341 requests. All were mailed free of charge.

Books sent: 687 English books, 26 Spanish books, (322 Spirit of Prophecy books and 365 Other Harvestime books), 7 Family Bible Studies (Loose-leaf for Bible studies), 22 Bible Treasures (for Bible studies), 10 Bibles, 40 Chart of the Week. Some books were sent, at their request, to prison libraries.

Our most requested books are Great Controversy, Desire of Ages, Evolution Handbook, Shelter in the Storm, Steps to Christ, Bible Readings, Family Bible Studies (bound edition), Patriarchs and Prophets, Pocket Song Book, Beyond Pitcairn, Prophet of the End, Ministry of Healing, Christs Object Lessons, and our Spanish books.

Prison requests for books this month came from 32 states, including: California - 58 / Colorado - 15 / Florida - 24 / Georgia - 31 / Louisiana - 15 / Michigan - 28 / New Jersey - 15 / Ohio - 16 / Pennsylvania - 17 / Tennessee - 12 / Texas - 39.

Special prayer requests for this month: Strength for those wanting to do right. Backsliders. Those trying to teach the truth. Spiritual light for those seeking it.

OVERSEAS MINISTRY REPORT

Approximately 141 letters were received in October 2006 from Africa and other countries, requesting free literature. Literature was sent to every request. Requests included Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ethiopia, India, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Uganda, and Malawi. Postage required: approximately $1,338.00.
